VEDIC WISDOM

Bhagavad Gita is the essence of Vedic knowledge and one of the most important Upanisad in Vedic literature. Its literally meaning is “the song of the Supreme Lord” since it is directly spoken by the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Sri Krishna.

The knowledge found within the Bhagavad Gita is incomparable as it gives specific information regarding the purpose of human existence, the immortality of the soul and our eternal relationship with God. The realization of our eternal relationship with God, the process of reviving that relationship and the mature result, attainment of Love of God are the principles in which the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita are presented by Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, its authoritative translator and commentator, following in the line of all the Acharyas descending by Sri Krishna Himself, passing through Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.

In his introduction, Srila Prabhupada declares how we should approach its study: “The spirit of Bhagavad gita is mentioned in Bhagavad gita itself. It is just like this: if we want to take a particular medicine, then we have to follow the directions written on the label. We cannot take the medicine according to our own whim or the direction of a friend. It must be taken according to the directions on the label or the directions given by a physician. Similarly, Bhagavad gita should be taken or accepted as it is, directed by the speaker himself”.
